Frequently Asked Questions
This is a drug, alcohol and pet free event.
As a live in style gathering designed to create a harmonious energetic flow, it is important that all participants reside on site.
You are invited to leave distractions at home.
Who can attend this event?
This gathering is for adults – 18 years and over.
Can I bring my kids?
Babes in arms are welcome and to be supervised by a responsible parent at all times, with particular sensitivity to other people participating in workshops and silent spaces.
We plan to have dedicated space for parents with babes in arms and we encourage you to attend.
For older children, please arrange alternate child minding while you attend the event.
This gives you a ‘mini break’ from the kids too!
What is the food like?
All meals are vegetarian and deliciously prepared with love and care. We have three meals per day – breakfast, lunch and dinner – as well as morning and afternoon tea.
We can accommodate special dietary needs, including vegan, dairy free and gluten free. Please advise us of any special dietary needs you may have when you register.
Do I have to participate in workshops?
While there are many structured activities at The Joining nothing is compulsory. If you need time out, we encourage you to listen to and honour what feels right for you. With the multiple choices on offer and access to the facilities you can design your own experience.
Know that you are abundantly supported at The Joining to take the opportunity to look deep within, release, and heal in a safe and sacred space. We have a team of experienced “Emotional Care” volunteers on call throughout the Gathering. These volunteers have professional qualifications and experience at Gatherings such as ours and are available to support you should you require extra assistance during or after a workshop. Our emotional carers are available all weekend to help and support you with love, experience and care.Time out is often needed when you are facing painful memories or core issues. We believe in the healing power of nature and our venue has trees you can relax under, a beautiful clear lake to swim in, and nature trails to wander.
We expect many people to attend the Joining. Within that larger community there is the connection and support of a much smaller group – your Affinity Group. Randomly chosen you will gather with approximately 7 others for an hour each day, to share your experiences and feelings if you choose. We have found the support of this small group within the overall Joining space helps individuals to expand and connect in a safe way.
Hugging is common at The Joining and often becomes natural. It is also not compulsory. Please respect others by asking permission before hugging and also respecting your own need to be asked. Expressing your response with respect is perfectly OK and does not require you to further explain unless you choose to. Please see one of our wonderful Elders who are there for you have any questions or have any issues about this. We will let you know who the Elders are.
We have a “Cuddle Puddle” filled with big cushions where you can rest, relax, read a book, chill out with others, or use for longer hugs if you so desire. Please see one of our wonderful Elders who are there for you if you want to ask any questions about this. We will let you know who the Elders are.
